!!!STUDY!!! click on the orange boxed links below for great study games to prepare you for unit 1 test. These review resources do NOT cover density and weight math problems, see HYDEscience VLogs for math review.
ABOVE: volume is the amount of space that an object occupies. Your body takes up space, your body and the water can NOT occupy the same space. So when you sit down in the tub you displace the water that used to be there.
Above: Conversion factor 1 mL = 1cm3, cubic centimeter and milliliters are measurements that represent the same amount of space "volume" in the clip below 1000 mL are poured into a 1000 cm3 container and if they truly represent the same volume "amount of space" then ......
Above: All gases are not what we call "air". some gases are more dense than others, meaning some gases sink or float in other gases. To illustrate this an aluminum boat is used. The aluminum boat sinks in air but floats on the more dense gas in the tank.
Above: Mass is a unit of measurement that represents how much matter is contained within an object. This has nothing to with an objects volume. Scientifically speaking; yes, YOU MATTER
Above: Mass "matter" is a measure of how much stuff there is total, and Weight is a measure of the force of gravity pulling on that stuff. Mass is always the same everywhere and weight depends on gravity, so your weight is different where gravity is different..... like the moon.
